Vadai also known as wada or vade or Bara. Vadai vary in shape and size, but are usually either doughnut- or disc-shaped. Vadai are made from dal, lentil, gram flour or potato. Vadai is a traditional South Indian food. They are typically deep-fried in oil and served with savoury accompaniments. It originated in Tamilnadu and since has spread in popularity throughout India and Sri Lanka.

  • 500 gram urad dhali (soak for 1 day)
  • 1.1/2 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon jintan manis
  • Ingredients B
  • 5 piece shallots
  • 3 stalk green chilli (chopped)
  • 5 stalk dried chilli (chopped)
  • 2 stalk curry leaf (chopped)
  • 6 tablespoon rice flour
  • salt and pepper to taste

2. Grease 1 piece of banana leaf with some oil. Form dhall mixture into patties, put it on banana leaf then make a hole in the centre.

3. Fry dough over medium heat till golden brown.
